Pouring and Holding Furnace

Saint-Gobain Performance Ceramics and Refractories have developed a range of foundry solutions. Our ceramics for foundries can be used in furnaces, inductors and ladle equipment.
Pouring and holding furnace designs are comprised of three key areas: the inductor, throats, and the upper case. Each of these areas faces specific challenges.

Saint-Gobain Performance Ceramics & Refractories selects and supplies high grade refractory materials able to resist slag line corrosion and inductor clogging, ensuring efficient and reliable furnace operation.

Specific shapes and geometries can be provided to accommodate the unique operation condition of each foundry. A large range of dry vibrated cements (DVC) and castables are available, each designed to suit the operating conditions and specifications of upper case, throat or inductor areas.

FAQ

Does Saint-Gobain Performance Ceramics & Refractories offer solutions for every zone of a furnace?

Yes. A full range of products is available covering each furnace zone and its related equipment, including working lining, spouts, inductor or cover. Products include: Dry vibrated cements (NORVIBE) Various castables (NORCAST®, NORFAST, NORFLOW®) Pre-cast shapes (NORSHAPE) Special mixes (NORRAM, NORGUN) A range of related products is available to meet individual customer requirements.

Which products can address the issue of zinc infiltration close to the inductor when working with Zn-Mg alloy melting at temperatures under 500 °C?

The NORVIBE range has been specifically designed for installation around the inductor, with the NORVIBE A 126 A and NORVIBE K 130 ZN mixes being ideal for lower temperature applications.
