Belt Conveyor Components
Saint-Gobain Performance Ceramics & Refractories’ ceramic lining products are installed in large conveyor systems around the world. The conveyance and transfer of materials is a challenging and demanding process, primarily due to abrasion and impact from the large volumes of abrasive materials frequently transferred onto conveyor belts.
Ceramic materials with high wear and impact resistance offer a number of advantages over traditional materials such as AR steels, weld overlays, plastics or ceramics embedded in urethanes and rubber.
These advantages include:
- Reduced overall down time due to maintenance and frequent changeovers
- Reduced risk of loading skirt leaks
- Reduced risk of hazardous spills on walkways
- Reduced risk of holes in head and tail chutes
-
Saint-Gobain Performance Ceramics & Refractories collaborates with customers’ process and operation teams to codevelop solutions to these common issues. Ceramic lining solutions are available for a wide range of equipment, including:
- Head chute
- Loading skirt
- Transfer point
- Dribble chute
- Bins
- Chutes
- Diverters
- Flop gates
- Pulley lagging
- Skirt boards
- Transfer chutes
- Hoppers
- Silo cone bottoms
- Spouting

FAQ
Are ceramics suitable for use with sticky materials prone to backing up?Ceramics have a very low coefficient of friction - particularly after they are polished and broken in - and they do not absorb moisture. Design considerations around material type and repose angle are also important when working with sticky materials.
Can ceramics be used with removable wear plates?Yes. Ceramics can be adhered to removable wear plates for use in any system.
